Allison’s Word: “Zzzz…”

Time for a very, very quick edition of “Allison’s Word,” and this time around it’s not so much a word but a sound.  And that sound is…

Yep, the sound of someone who has fallen fast asleep.

“Well, I do find you quite boring sometimes.”

Ouch!  That really hurts, Disembodied Voice!  Anyway, I was making that snoring noise very early last night (Friday).

“OMG! You bore even yourself?”

No, not that!  Usually, I recuperate from a long work week by relaxing at home on the couch on Friday nights, either playing on the computer and/or watching television.  Strange thing is, however, I don’t fall asleep on the couch on Friday nights while playing on the computer and/or watching television.

I think part of the reason is the long week I had.  I didn’t think the work load I had was out of the ordinary.  But then again… I did work a couple of volunteer opportunities on Thursday and Friday.  Oh, and I had to take my car in on Thursday to get some routine brake work.  And I’m finally starting to shake this cold (or so I think).  And I got my male mode hair cut late Wednesday night.  (Serious side question to you all:  Does a permanently-cut part look good on a man?)

So, I figured I started falling asleep around 8:30 or so on Friday night.  It didn’t help that my computer was running so slow due to the internet security program taking up all the CPU space to update itself.

“Well, it’s an important thing to have on your computer.”

Oh, I know that.  But it when it finally finished, I started feeling… well, let’s just say a little not-quite-in-the-moment.  So, I closed up my laptop and stretched out on the couch.  And the next thing I know, it was 40 minutes later.  I knew that because thanks to my dozing off, I had missed the rest of the basketball game I was watching.  So, not wanting to officially go to bed yet, I tried slapping myself awake a little more.  But I dozed off again, and when I woke up again around 10:45 or so, I gave up, turned off the TV, and went straight to bed.

“You know, maybe you should’ve dressed up to stay awake.”

Yeah, perhaps I should’ve done that.  It definitely would’ve made for a more fun Friday night for me.  But at least after I went back to bed, I had this nice dream involving a very cute gentleman caller.

“Oooh la la.”

Yeah, and it was a nice dream, too.  So, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go back to bed and have that dream again.

“But it’s Saturday morning.”

Exactly!  It was so good, I really can’t wait until tonight to go back to DreamLand.  So, pleasant dreams everyone.
