A crossdresser's thoughts on life, fashion, fabulousness, and (oh yeah) dressing up

Time for something I haven’t done on here in a while:  Clear out a bookmark that’s long been sitting idle in my browser.  It’s about a business here in Madison that I’ve highlighted a couple of times on here before:  Mallatt’s, which has long been known for its prescription services, home health care and convenience items, and more famously a wide selection of costumes and theatrical makeup.  In the autumn of 2016, Mallatt’s made the decision to discontinue its prescription services, due to changing times and increased corporate competition.  Then a year ago, they closed their remaining brick-and-mortar locations.  Since then, Mallatt’s has concentrated on their online sales and services, both in home care services and costume sales.

As I remarked a year ago, even though Mallatt’s is still in business, not seeing them have a regular physical presence here in Madison was a bummer.  Whether it’s for a prescription or a costume, or a vaporizer or a wig, having to go to one of those antiseptic corporate-owned stores (e.g. Walgreens, Party City) or a seasonal pop-up store with a ramshackle setup is not always a delight for shoppers or employees alike.

However, my heart perked up last fall upon seeing this news:  Mallatt’s had a change in management, and the new proprietor made the decision to open up their warehouse to the general public.  Well, of course Mallatt’s has a warehouse; I mean, they need someplace to store all the items they sell online.  As well, having an actual warehouse helps if Mallatt’s is working with a theater company or even a film or television producer that are in Madison and needs a high-quality costume item, makeup, or even fake dirt right away.

There’s a caveat with that link I’m sharing:  The article was from October, the big costume wearing (and costume selling) season.  And the hours of business for Mallatt’s warehouse that the article lists may have been extended seasonal hours.  So, if you’re in Madison and need to purchase a wig or makeup, and you’re on the spot, you may need to contact Mallatt’s ahead of time.  Still, however, it’s great to know that there’s still a name in the Madison area — Mallatt’s — that’s ready and able to sell something that will bring out the free spirit in you.

A part of the trans community ("cross-dresser" is the term that applies to me) who finds themselves much more expressive and somewhat more confident when presenting in a feminine persona. An admirer and supporter of those who are fashionable, fabulous, and friendly (LGBT or otherwise). Someone who tries to be witty and unique, but is not even remotely perverted or a pariah (I am a real human being, just like you). Using various writing styles on this blog to communicate thoughts and feelings concerning my life experiences, fashion sense, and the world at large (and maybe impressing my high school creative writing teacher who deservedly gave me middling grades).
