A crossdresser's thoughts on life, fashion, fabulousness, and (oh yeah) dressing up

Poem: “When I get to it”

Time for another attempt to nurture my still-very-embryonic career as a poet.  There’s a little bit about crossdressing in the first three stanzas, but the poem as a whole is about a lot of other things… or at least the need and desire to do them.  It also may be a little longer than my earlier attempts at poetry, but for me it’s not so much length but quality (or at least something close to it) that’s important. So, if you’re ready, here goes:

When I get to it

There’s a brand new outfit
Just added to my closet
So soft and sensual
And ready to turn heads
When I wear it
But will I wear it?
I will… when I get to it

There’s another new outfit
Just added to the store racks
Unique and stunning
And just perfect for my wardrobe
I really want to wear it
But will I buy it?
I will… when I get to it

There’s a brand new wig I saw
At that wig shop downtown
Beautiful and flattering
It’s the perfect style I’m wanting
I really want to buy it
But will I make it mine?
I will… when I get to it

There’s something on my mind
That I want to blog about
Something profound and witty
That the world should know more about
But will I type it up?
Or at least write it out?!
I will… when I get to it

There’s an opportunity out there
To better my life
To step out of my comfort zone
With new things to learn and do
But will I take the chance?
And be brave enough to do it?
Gee, I don’t know… can I do it?

There’s a family to tend to
Parents and sisters who love you
Nieces who adore you
And can’t live without you
And want to see you
But will I be there for them?
It’s not if… but when I get to do it

So many people to be
So many things to do
To want and need to do
All wanting my attention
All ready to pull me
From one corner to another
And yet another

There’s only one me
So I need to be
The best I can be
Just do one thing at a time
And then another

I have a lot of things to do
A lot I want and need to do
It may take me a while to do them
But, oh, it will be a great feeling
When I do get to do them

A part of the trans community ("cross-dresser" is the term that applies to me) who finds themselves much more expressive and somewhat more confident when presenting in a feminine persona. An admirer and supporter of those who are fashionable, fabulous, and friendly (LGBT or otherwise). Someone who tries to be witty and unique, but is not even remotely perverted or a pariah (I am a real human being, just like you). Using various writing styles on this blog to communicate thoughts and feelings concerning my life experiences, fashion sense, and the world at large (and maybe impressing my high school creative writing teacher who deservedly gave me middling grades).

  1. Enjoyed this poem! It must’ve taken you a considerable amount of time to think and write it. The effort is always appreciated!
