Okay, remember when I said in my last post that dressing up, going out, and partying on Halloween night was never my thing? Well, that’s true, as here I am staying at home and writing this on Halloween night.
And remember when I said two posts ago that while I don’t normally dress up as Allison for Halloween, there have been times when I did dress up as Allison on Halloween? Well, that’s true, too. Matter of fact, I did dress up as Allison this afternoon, and snapped a few photos of me in a brand new outfit (I’ll try to edit and post the results on my Flickr stream sometime tomorrow or early next week).
But if my staying in and not donning some extravagant costume leads you to think I’m not one to have any bit of Halloween spirit… well, let’s just say that although I don’t go hog wild on the spirit of the day and dress up as a ghost or goblin or what have you, and haven’t really done so since I was 12 years old (save for one day at home a few years ago), there is still a little bit of Halloween spirit in me. Just a teeny tiny bit, mind you.
But you’re doubting me, you say? Well, take a look at this photo:
I saw this mask at Ragstock on State Street not too long ago and thought, well, why not buy it? Even if I’m never going to wear it out on the town, and even if it’ll mess up my hair, this mask does look pretty cute, not to mention it has a touch of grace in its design. While I was finishing up my photo session with this new ensemble (again, photos are coming soon), I saw this mask, thought of the significance of this day, and brought it out.
Now, sure, I had to take my wig off for a moment to put the mask on (it has ribbon strings that, in my opinion, don’t look good strung up over your hair), and when I placed my wig back on, I had to pouffe it out a little bit to hide the ribbons. Still, the end result was pretty cute. And dare I say, the fuchsia color goes perfectly with the cherry red top I’m wearing.
So, let this be a sign that while Halloween isn’t completely my thing, I don’t mind the spirit of the holiday at all. And I won’t begrudge you for your Halloween happiness. If it’s still Halloween where you are, please make sure you stay safe out there.
